今後（こんご） means from now on, going forward, or in the future. It looks at the future from this point onward, often with a serious, planned, or official tone.

It is more formal than これから. Use これから for everyday or immediate plans. Use 今後（こんご） for broader future matters, such as business emails, official announcements, reports, apologies, and promises to improve.

Common patterns include 今後とも（こんごとも） for “from now on as well,” often used when asking for continued support, and 今後の対応（こんごのたいおう） for “future response” or “next steps.”

Do not use it for casual, immediate actions like what you are about to eat or do next. In casual conversation, 今後（こんご） can sound stiff or overly serious.
