Answer / Reply
答え(こたえ) means the content of an answer, not just the act of responding.
Use it for the information someone gives in response to a question. It comes from 答える(こたえる), meaning to answer.
Compare 返事(へんじ): 返事 is a reply or acknowledgment, like responding during roll call. 答え is the actual information that answers the question.

What learners say.
I use this as my main app now. The decks are detailed, the usage notes and example sentences are helpful, and the quizzes are genuinely difficult.

始 Getting started
I'm at N5 level. Is Amenokori right for me?
Yes, N5 is the perfect starting point. Once you have learned hiragana and katakana, which most people do in a few days, you can start expanding vocabulary, grammar, and kanji.
Start with the N5 deck. Each entry includes furigana readings, meanings, grammatical nuances, and example sentences, so you build real understanding from day one.
What JLPT levels does Amenokori cover?
All levels from N5 (beginner) through N1 (advanced). The library is organised into separate decks by level, so you can focus on exactly where you are.
N1 also includes an extended vocabulary deck for learners who want to go beyond the core list. See the full breakdown on the homepage.
How much time do I need per day?
Most learners spend 10 to 20 minutes a day. FSRS manages your review queue by scheduling cards at the optimal time, so you are never overwhelmed.
You control how many new cards you learn. Start with 5 to 10 new words and adjust to your schedule. Consistency beats intensity.
法 SRS, Anki, and alternatives
What is SRS (Spaced Repetition System)?
SRS shows you a word right before you are about to forget it. Each successful recall pushes the next review further away (1 day, then 3, then 7, then 30). Words you struggle with surface more often. The result is study time focused on what actually needs reinforcement.
What is FSRS, and how is it better than traditional SRS?
FSRS (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler) is the next-generation algorithm that replaced classic SM-2 as Anki's default. Where SM-2 uses fixed multipliers, FSRS tracks each card's stability and difficulty for you personally and predicts your forgetting curve.
The practical benefit is fewer daily reviews for the same retention.
How is this different from Duolingo, WaniKani, or Bunpro?
Duolingo is great to get started but has shallow vocabulary and little nuance. WaniKani focuses on kanji and Bunpro on grammar, so many learners run all three (around $18 a month combined) plus a vocab app.
Amenokori combines vocabulary, grammar nuance, and kanji in one FSRS-powered app. One queue, one subscription, or free forever on the generous free tier.
I tried Anki but hated the setup. Is this for me?
Absolutely. Amenokori was built for learners who want Anki-level results without the Anki hassle. No deck hunting, no formatting, no plugin configs. Same FSRS, everything already set up: 10K entries with meanings, grammar notes, examples, and seven quiz types.
会 Premium and account
What can I do on the free tier?
The free tier is genuinely useful, not a teaser. You get the full 10K-entry library across all JLPT levels (N5 to N1), with meanings, grammar notes, and example sentences. Study with one active deck, take quizzes, and use FSRS-powered scheduling.
What extra features does Premium unlock?
Premium removes limits and adds power-user features: full examples and audio, unlimited saved terms, multiple active decks, advanced deck and quiz options, multiple vocab notifications, higher daily caps, and no ads.
What are "Easy Days" and how do they work?
Easy Days let you reduce study load on specific days, such as weekends. FSRS checks your settings when computing the next review and nudges the due date so fewer cards land there. Because FSRS models your memory stability, a one or two day shift does not meaningfully affect retention.
Can I try Premium before committing?
Yes. Both Monthly and Annual plans include a 1-month free trial. Cancel anytime during the trial and you will not pay a thing. Or pick the Lifetime plan, a one-time purchase worth roughly two years of monthly billing.
Will I lose progress if I switch phones?
No. Amenokori has full cloud sync. Log in on the new phone and tap sync, and everything is restored exactly where you left off, including SRS intervals. It works across iPhone and Android.
Stop juggling apps.
